Mayor sacks chairman of top-performing PTA

One of the country’s best-performing passenger transport authorities is without a chairman, after he was sacked by his council’s elected mayor.

Councillor Mick Jameson, chairman of South Yorkshire PTA for the last three years, was removed from office by fellow Labour man Mark Winter, elected mayor of Doncaster for a similar period.

Businessman Jameson, 69, also chair of Doncaster’s planning committee, was removed from SYPTA last month.

He told Surveyor: ‘I suppose you could call it a clash of personalities. I will not bend to oppressive leadership.’ Mr Winter could not be contacted.
