Manchester identifies key routes for road pricing approach

Council leaders in Greater Manchester have revealed that 15 of the most congested corridors into the city would be included in a congestion charge scheme.
Top councillors from the 10 Greater Manchester authorities are meeting to discuss plans to introduce road-user charging as part of a Transport Innovation Fund bid in July at the end of this week.
The deal could be worth more than £1bn in transport improvements for the city region. The meeting of the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities is due to see district leaders thrash out the principles behind providing the basis for the design of the charging scheme.
In a report to the AGMA meeting, the details of a major public consultation to be held in the spring will be revealed.
