Making room for efficiency

A new operational control room for Cumbria’s highways operations will ‘revolutionise’ the way the county’s roads are maintained, the council claims.

The new £50,000 OCR, based in Penrith, will be the nerve centre for much of the county’s multimillion-pound highways operations. Set up by Amey Infrastructure Services, the OCR’s satellite technology and mapping software allows Cumbria Highways to make the most of its resources on the county’s 7,700km road network.
