Kent’s bus rapid-transit ‘Fastrack’ scheme will be expanded under the latest wave of multi-area agreements (MAA) aimed at empowering councils to work together.
Councils in north Kent, the West Midlands and the west of England were this week given official backing by communities secretary, John Denham, to step up work to boost employment, skills, housing and transport in their regions.
The North Kent MMA aims to roll out the BRT systems based on the Fastrack model in Medway and Swale. The West of England MMA aims to improve transport by reducing congestion around the M4 corridor and improving bus journeys.
However, the Birmingham, Coventry and Black Country MMA is focused solely on improving education standards.
