Low emission plan ‘rushed’

London’s mayor will waste £100M of taxpayers’ money if he proceeds with his ‘rushed’ proposal for a Greater London low-emission zone, according to business leaders.
London First is proposing a smaller, ‘more cost-effective’ scheme, covering the congestion-charging zone and ring roads, targeting all vehicles rather than just HGVs, buses and coaches.
This would address most of London’s pollution hotspots and avoid ‘an unnecessary tax on business,’ said Baroness Jo Valentine, the lobby group’s chief executive.
