Lorry driver safety targeted

The Highways Agency (HA) has teamed up with Kent County Council and the emergency services to launch a road safety initiative aimed at lorry drivers.

Operation Lexicon’s first project will see the authorities ‘change the way lorry drivers behave on the road.’

The group, which also includes Medway Council, has established a number of solutions intended to reduce lorry collisions on the county's roads, including increased police patrols on the M20 between junctions 3 and 6, extra mobile electronic message signs displaying the reminder ‘KEEP YOUR DISTANCE’ and an increased number of Highways Agency Traffic Officers patrols to encourage safer driving.
