Learner drivers go green

 
Learner drivers are to be assessed on their eco-driving from next week in a move introduced by the Driving Standards Agency.

While passing the eco-driving assessment will not be required to obtain a license, learner drivers will have to undergo the examination.

Assessors will look at how smoothly drivers accelerate and brake - sudden acceleration means more fuel is wasted with higher emissions.
