Lambeth considers ending clamping

Lambeth Council may end vehicle clamping in the borough.

Discussions regarding the impact on road safety and congestion are still taking place, but if the findings show the implications would be positive, the London borough has said it ‘will endeavour’ to end clamping in the area.

Meanwhile, the number of motorists appealing against parking tickets in Lambeth fell by more than 25% last year, and the council recently renegotiated its parking contract, removing the arrangement where the parking contractor was penalised if it did not issue a certain number of tickets.

Cllr Nigel Haselden, deputy cabinet member for transport and parking, said: ‘The council has pledged to make parking fairer.’
