Lake District Heritage bid

Cumbria County Council has set up a new website to give local people their chance to have a say on whether the Lake District should be declared a World Heritage Site along with Stonehenge and the Giant’s Causeway.

Cumbria is leading discussions with UNESCO’s World Heritage Site Steering Group on behalf of the Lake District National Park Authority and plans a larger scale public consultation if UNESCO agrees to a formal bid.
