Ladyman fuels the debate

Transport minister Stephen Ladyman has launched a consultation on the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO), in preparation for the sale of greener transport fuels.
Ladyman wants to hear peoples’ views on the design of the scheme, how suppliers will be affected, and how the RFTO might develop after 2010. The RFTO requires that by 2010, 5% of all fuel sold on UK forecourts will come from a renewable source. It is predicted to save one million tonnes of carbon emissions each year by 2010. The consultation will finish on 17 May.
