LGA makes fresh call for devolved flood cash

 

Council leaders have called for flood defence funding to be devolved after new research suggests 15,000 homes and businesses were flooded across northern England during last winter’s storms.

Council leaders also called on the Government to find new ways of leveraging private finance for flood defence works, including extending tax relief for contributions to all flood defence projects, not just those with government funding attached.
