LGA drive for safe driving

The Local Government Association has urged motorists to drive carefully and said that heavy rains following the prolonged heatwave are likely to increase the risks of road accidents.

Cllr David Sparks, chairman of the LGA’s environment board, said: ‘The long spell of dry weather will have left road surfaces covered in oil and rubber which, when mixed with heavy rain, can become a deadly cocktail for the country’s drivers.’
