LGA delivers stern rebuke

Council leaders have written a joint letter to Royal Mail bosses expressing their concerns for the taxpayer and the environment if the decision to scrap existing limits on the amount of junk mail delivered to people’s homes goes ahead.
A new deal set to be struck could lead to the abolition of the three-items-per-week limit on the delivery of ‘unaddressed’ mailings, which could lead to unlimited amount of junk mail being sent.
The Local Government Association spoke out over fears this could lead to an increase in 78,000t of junk mail ending up in landfills each year.
