LBC caught with illegal attendants

Haringey Council could face paying huge fines after parking attendants found to be working illegally were arrested last week.

More than 15 workers were allegedly found to have forged documents, and seven of them were said to be illegal immigrants awaiting deportation. Ten of the parking attendants were working for agencies and seven directly for the council.

A council spokesman said: ‘Haringey council, like all authorities, works with the Border and Immigration Agency to routinely check the rights of individuals to reside and work in the UK.

‘During the recent exercise, a number of permanent and temporary staff were identified to be using professionally-forged documents. The council co-operated with the Home Office in the detention of the individuals. There was no disruption to services.’
