Kent boosts repair programme with extra manpower

Kent County Council’s April blitz on potholes has already attracted five times the normal number of report calls from the public.

Extra crews have been drafted in to tackle the workload throughout the month, and more than 7,300 potholes have been repaired. Throughout April, the council has poured funding into pothole repair and asked the public to report any problems to it using the Internet or by phone.

Once reported, highway inspectors assess the damage to see if they need immediate attention or adding to the planned programme.

Kent cabinet member for highways, Keith Ferrin, said: ‘We have had a very good public response so far, and I am grateful to residents for this. I would urge them to keep up the good work.

‘There are more potholes than normal at this time of year because of water during the wet winter after last year’s very wet summer. ‘We are making an extra effort to repair as many potholes as we can as soon as possible.’
