Joint initiative aims to raise skill levels

TMS Consultancy and City of Bath College are launching a new joint training initiative in January 2010, in a bid to tackle the skills shortage in the highways and transportation sector.

The City of Bath College’s Highways Open Tech distance learning courses will be delivered and taught in modular form by TMS, as an expansion to its current traffic management and road safety training courses portfolio.

The initiative will concentrate on highways design and transport planning and traffic management topics, and will lead to BTEC certificates of achievement for students. Phil Cook, director of TMS, said: ‘We see the development and provision of high-quality training with qualifications and competency assessments as very important to the future of the industry.

‘We are very pleased to be working with awell respected academic institution on this initiative.’
