Joint approach to waste

 
Proposals for a joint waste-management strategy between Highland and Moray Councils have taken a step forward.

Members of the Highland Council’s TEC services committee approved the proposal last week, which would see the development of three energy-from-waste plants in Highland, one in Moray and in-vessel composting plants. The proposals will now go before Moray councillors.

Cllr John Laing, chairman of the council’s TEC services committee, said: ‘The joint waste-management strategy will enable Highland and Moray to meet targets set by the Scottish Government under its policy for zero waste.’
