On-street parking charges in Guildford have been suspended for several weeks following an administrative error.
Surrey County Council recently noticed that a section on written orders needed to implement on-street parking in Guildford had not been included.
‘As soon as we became aware of this mistake, Surrey County Council and Guildford Borough Council took action and have now suspended on-street parking charges in the town until the error is corrected,’ the county council said in a statement.
The decision means motorists will be able to park free of charge in the town’s 495 on-street pay-and-display parking spaces, which represent 10% of the available parking spaces in the town. The council said it would take ‘several weeks’ to rectify the problem.
