It’s all in order for city to regenerate

The regeneration and widening of Liverpool’s Edge Lane has finally been given the go ahead, after the Government confirmed the compulsory purchase order to demolish a number of properties.

National regeneration agency, English Partnerships, together with partners including Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Vision, welcomed the decision by the secretary of state to confirm the CPO that was made for Edge Lane West in 2007.

Currently, almost 90% of the properties concerned are already in public ownership, or are in the process of acquisition. Now the CPO has been confirmed, steps can be taken to acquire the rest of the properties so that work can begin.

The first CPO for Edge Lane West was confirmed in February 2006, but was challenged in the High Court and quashed in November 2006.
