Investment will offer Isle of Wight visitors a smooth Ryde experience

The Isle of Wight has received £6.2M from the Department for Transport for a new hub linking bus, rail and hovercraft services.

The Ryde Interchange will have real-time information on local services plus a link to information about train services from Portsmouth, CCTV, improved heating, seating, and a new cafe.

The project, the largest of its kind on the island, will be designed with full disabled access. Councillor Tim Hunter-Henderson, Isle of Wight Council's cabinet member for environment and transport said: ‘The council is delighted the go ahead for the interchange has been given.

The current facility accommodates more than 2.5M people a year and having this modern interchange means the island will become a lot more attractive to visitors and businesses. For many the interchange will represent a first impression so it is crucial the building looks first-class as well as being functional.’
