Inner-ring gains ground

Derby’s inner-ring road moved a step closer this week, with the Government agreeing to fund £20.5M of the project.
The decision means Derby City Council can proceed with the compulsory purchase orders of 12 properties for sections two and three of the scheme to widen the ring road. If these are completed this year, the expanded route could be open by 2009, the council said.
