This month saw the first of what could become a key annual event in the infrastructure sector: the Improving Infrastructure Delivery symposium at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) brought together commercial secretary to the Treasury, Lord Deighton, chief executive construction HS2, Simon Kirby, and other members of the Infrastructure Client Group (ICG) and Infrastructure UK (IUK). Attendees discussed what steps are being taken to improve UK infrastructure delivery.
ICE director general, Nick Baveystock, said: 'The collaborative effort between Government and Industry to deliver UK infrastructure more cost effectively is very encouraging, and there is clear evidence of changing behaviours throughout the supply chain. We must now build on this progress, ensuring best practice principles are exchanged and embedded among clients from all sectors and ultimately realising the full cost savings identified. The Infrastructure Client Group has a pivotal role in driving this forward and ICE will play its part in that through our work with the group.'
