Historic crossing restored

A historic bridge in Nottingham will be reopened this week after a £168,000 improvement programme.

Kimberley Railway Bridge, which carries a footpath over tracks that run through a nature reserve, was deemed unsafe last year. The repair work included a number of new bat and bird boxes being incorporated into the design, and was funded by Nottinghamshire County Council and New Growth Point Fund.

Cllr Ken Rigby, Broxtowe Borough Council’s cabinet member for planning, said: ‘This is a fantastic project and I am delighted that it has been so successful.

‘I look forward to more such schemes being implemented over the next two years.’
