Highways:Filled with local enthusiasm

Haringey Council has announced it will invest an extra £200,000 in repairing potholes from April, on the back of the results of a consultation with residents. The additional money, which will see the council’s spending on pothole repairs almost double from current levels, comes after residents said potholes were their number one highways priority in a consultation carried out last summer. A record-breaking 3,500 households responded to the consultation, with more than 40% choosing potholes among their preferred three priorities out of a list of 14 options. The council will also be setting up a 24-hour ‘pothole’ phone line from April.
