Highways: Portsmouth goes 20mph

 
Nearly all residential streets in Portsmouth will be 20mph zones by spring, as the council’s ground-breaking scheme nears completion. Last week 20mph signs were unveiled on residential roads in four more areas of the city and only one more section remains to be covered by the scheme. Portsmouth City Council is the first in Britain to make all its residential roads 20mph (Surveyor, 7 June 2007).
