Highways: Da Vinci inspires a new highway code for chapel visitors

Traffic problems created by the popularity of Rossyln Chapel, with visitors following its fame created by the Hollywood film of The Da Vinci Code, are being tackled by Midlothian council.
The local highway authority has resurfaced the approach roads and installed five runs of Rediweld’s SitecopPlus (pictured) to enforce a 20mph limit on the Chapel Loan access road, in response to a surge in visitors.
Some 115,000 people a year are now visiting the site in the tiny village of Roslin. Midlothian council has also installed new bus stop flags, with a special flash indicating the stop for the chapel to visitors.
