Highways: Chapter 8 riot act read

Local authorities failing to live up to their chapter 8 requirements on temporary traffic management could face legal action. The finalised document, which is released this week, will set down the requirements for temporary traffic signals and management of the nation’s network. Robert Hudleston, Surrey County Council’s traffic manager, who has just completed a tour of England explaining how highways authorities should follow the document, believes those who ignore it could find themselves facing legal action. Chapter 8 should be accepted in its own right and not just as an extension of the ‘Red book’.
