Harbour link is quay to easing city centre congestion

A new road bridge being built by a private sector firm was lifted into place this week. Glasgow Harbour’s bridge across the River Kelvin at Yorkhill Quay is part of the first phase of roadworks started in September 2004, and due to be completed in late 2007. Glasgow Harbour said it had made the ‘highly unusual’ move of investing in roads as a private sector company in order to improve links to the north of the Clyde, and to relieve congestion on the Clyde Expressway. European and Scottish Enterprise funds contributed to the £25M programme.
