Hands-on specialist offers county council help with inventory survey

Data Collection has won a £268,000 contract with Pembrokeshire County Council to create a new geo-referenced highway asset inventory for 2,500km of highway throughout the county.
The project is part of Pembrokeshire’s asset-management strategy aimed at creating comprehensive and up-to-date records of assets valued at an estimated £1.4bn. Data Collection’s surveyors will be using GPS-equipped hand-held computers with specially-developed software to collect all asset data, including pinpoint-accurate locations and measurements with supporting digital photographs, where required. With assets including carriageways, gulleys, verges, road studs and signs, the survey will be the most comprehensive ever undertaken in Wales. The survey is due to be completed in October.
