Hampshire freight debate

A major consultation on freight transport in Hampshire has been launched.

Local authorities, hauliers, government agencies and environmental groups will be able to have their say on issues facing the freight industry.

The consultation, by Hampshire County Council, Portsmouth City Council and Southampton City Council, is on draft freight strategies which aim to help the industry stay competitive and tackle problems, including congestion.

Ideas such as using new technology to allow more efficient use of on-street loading bays and allowing goods vehicles to use sections of bus lanes have been put forward for consideration. The deadline for comments is 21 October.
