Winchester City Council is to make on-street parking free for the first half-an-hour to benefit small businesses in the city centre.
Cllr George Hollingbery said: ‘This is something the local economy has been requesting for a while. ‘I have had the opportunity to talk to small businesses, such as locksmiths, dry cleaners and sandwich shops, which are affected by increased car parking charges. ‘Free parking for half-an-hour will help these small businesses, especially in fringe areas, such as Andover Road.’
