A guided bus scheme linking West Sussex and Surrey will be completed at the end of this month, after running more than £6M over budget.
Local transport minister Karen Buck, was due to visit Crawley and Horley this week, hopping on board Fastway to take a tour of the new public transport system linking the towns.
Costs for ~West Sussex County Council~';s Fastway guided bus scheme exceeded the predicted outlay of £23M by £6.2M, leading to disciplinary action of four officers (Surveyor, 12 January). But the scheme is on target to increase peak-hour bus trips by 60% by 2008, and to remove 1,000 car trips at these times.
