Costs for
~West Sussex County Council~';s Fastway guided bus scheme exceeded the predicted outlay of £23M by £6.2M, leading to disciplinary action of four officers (Surveyor, 12 January). But the scheme is on target to increase peak-hour bus trips by 60% by 2008, and to remove 1,000 car trips at these times.

In our story ‘Guided bus operators find a Fastway to please the customers’ (Surveyor, 23 February), we stated that ‘costs for the scheme exceeded the predicted outlay of £23M by £6.2M, leading to disciplinary action of four officers’. In fact, an internal investigation into possible disciplinary action decided that there were no grounds for this action. We would like to apologise.
