Calls to reopen disused railway lines as mixed-use routes for cars and trams are ‘missing the point,’ according to public transport campaigners.

Transport 2000 has challenged the trial of a ‘rubber highway’ on a former rail track in Corby (Surveyor, 18 May), questioning the rationale and the safety of cars and trains sharing ‘a narrow strip of ground’.
