Graffiti artists pay the price

Swindon Borough Council has voted to pursue convicted graffiti artists to cover the costs of the damage they cause.

 A spokesman said the council would chase people already brought to court and prosecuted by police, but did not have any cases at present. In certain situations, it would be easy to quantify the damage because many artists left their tag, he told Surveyor.

Swindon is thought to be the first council to take such an approach.
