Glasgow gets it together

Work worth more than £1bn, which is delivered by 6,000 staff, will be integrated under a new structure to provide shared services in Glasgow. The functions of the city council, Scottish Enterprise Glasgow, Strathclyde Police and the Greater Glasgow Health Board, will be combined under the new community safety unit to tackle anti-social behaviour and promote economic development. ‘Significant money’ would be diverted to frontline services by sharing back-office functions, and services delivery would improved by creating synergies across a range of service areas. A board will oversee the services provided by the bodies, which will all retain their current staff
