Giving congestion the slip

 
Improvement works to reduce congestion and improve traffic flows at some of the busiest motorway junctions in Yorkshire and Humber began this week.
Motorway access management – traffic signals on slip roads joining motorways – is being installed by the Highways Agency at seven locations on the M62 and M1 in West and South Yorkshire, part of a £6M national project to improve traffic safety on motorways. The signals system works through sensors in the road surface, which monitor the traffic flow.
