Four see a fab way of working together

Four Staffordshire councils are considering working together to deliver waste and recycling services, under a memorandum of understanding.

East Staffordshire BC, Newcastle-under-Lyme BC, Staffordshire Moorlands DC and Stoke-on-Trent City Council could put in place the framework to explore operational and financial efficiencies through partnership working.

Initially, the councils will explore the potential for joint trade refuse and recycling arrangements which could lead on to other arrangements.

The proposal is the latest step in the Staffordshire Joint Waste Management Board initiative that was first discussed last year.

The councils will discuss the proposals later this month. A joint statement said: ‘It is important that councils explore the potential for working with others for efficiency savings.’
