Four join forces for M74

Four of the UK’s biggest construction firms have joined together to bid for the M74 motorway contract - which could be worth up to £500M.
Balfour Beatty, Morgan Est, Morrison Construction and Sir Robert McAlpine have come together as the Interlink M74 Joint Venture, the only bidder for the contract - one of the biggest ever to go to the private sector.
However, its members will still have to convince Transport Scotland they can deliver the scheme, due to begin in spring 2007 and complete in 2010.
