Forum to launch cycle study

Cycling England has commissioned new independent research to enable local authorities’ transport teams to calculate the return on any investment in local cycling infrastructure schemes.

The research demonstrates the positive payback which new cycling provision can deliver. This work follows on from research published in 2007 on the economic value added of cycling itself.

The study will be launched at a Surveyor magazine conference on 22 April with a key note speech by transport minister, Paul Clark.

The conference will be held in Bristol, England’s first Cycling city, and will include presentations from several leading local authorities on their approach to cycling and on the potential for new funding for cycling infrastructure.
