Forth begins bridge study

Work to install acoustic monitoring equipment on the Forth Road Bridge in order to detect how quickly the structure’s cables are deteriorating has begun.
The technology, deployed following the discovery of 31 broken wires, will allow the Forth Estuary Transport Authority to discover any new breaks among the 11,618 high-tensile wires making up the main cables. The system is being installed by French contractor Advitam.
