Five steps to cut carbon

The Commission for Integrated Transport (CfIT) has published a report outlining five key initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions from UK transport by 71%, by 2020.

It calls for more intensive promotion of the ‘smarter choices’ programme to encourage greater use of public transport, walking, and cycling, together with improvements in the carbon performance of public transport.

The report also concludes technological and behavioural change is needed to secure the necessary reductions.
