Almost 100 employees of Veolia Environmental Services, working across five contracts with local authorities – and one with the Royal Parks in inner London – have been formally recognised for achieving 3,500 years of service between them.
Refuse collectors, street cleaners, landscapers and transport staff working in Camden, Lambeth, Regent’s Park, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Westminster, who had completed a consecutive 30 years’ or more service, attended a special presentation ceremony to mark their achievements.
Each attendee received a glass trophy and medal for 30-plus years’ service or 40-plus years’ service at the event held at the Horticultural Halls in Victoria.
Refuse collector, John Duffy, is still going strong after 50 years working in Westminster, having started his role on 1 September 1959.
