The rights of way provisions in the Natural Environment and Communities Act, which received Royal Assent this week, will start ‘as soon as possible’, the Government has promised.

~Jim Knight~ said: ‘We have delivered our commitment to curtail the inappropriate use of byways by motor vehicles, by putting an end to claims for motor vehicle access on the basis of historical use by horse-drawn vehicles.’
The legislation will, from October, allow national park authorities to introduce traffic regulation orders, and for Natural England, the successor to the
Countryside Agency and English Nature, to start business.
