FTA rallies for sea ports

The Government should put ‘its money where its mouth is’ to allow sea ports to expand, according to the Freight Transport Association.
The FTA’s Dr Andrew Traill told Department for Transport officials at a seminar on its review of ports policy that it should do more than verbally supporting commercial proposals. If Hutchinson Ports had not proposed upgrading the Felixstowe/Harwich - Peterborough rail link, ‘would the Government honestly sit back and refuse to put public money in?’
The ports strategy consultation runs until September.
