Expanded TfL control centre opens for business

The Duke of York this week opened Transport for London’s new transport control centre. The new hub incorporates three previously separate control rooms under one roof.

Its surface transport and traffic operations centre will co-locate the London buses command, London streets traffic control, and the Metropolitan Police traffic operation control in a new building.

The three transport control centres were grouped together in order to enable the teams to work more closely together. The Duke of York (pictured standing on the left) joined Mark Geldard, manager of London buses command, David Brown, managing director of TfL’s surface transport, and transport commissioner Peter Hendy for the opening.
