Environment: Litter levels ‘unsatisfactory’

 
English authorities still need to do more to improve their local environment, according to a Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs report. The Local Environmental Quality Survey of England found that while litter was not getting any worse it was still at an ‘unsatisfactory’ level. Cigarette butts remained the most common litter on the streets - yet the results were taken before the smoking ban kicked in, so this could now be even worse.
