Exmoor National Park Authority is preparing a £250,000 plan to reduce drainage on parts of the moor to encourage peat formation.
The Exmoor Mire restoration project will entail the blocking of ditches with peat bunds, wooden dams and heather bales to improve water retention, and cutting flood risks by reducing river flows.
