Elevated walkway will put Gateshead project on another level

Kier Property has been chosen to develop Gateshead Council’s GQ2 site, on the back of its elevated pedestrian street proposal.
Gateshead Council chose Kier Property from a shortlist of four developers to create a major mixed-use development on the vacant site next to The Sage Gateshead. Kier’s proposals were ‘the most successful in accommodating the level changes across the site, by providing a meandering elevated pedestrian street through the development, rather than excessive use of steps’.
Currently a temporary car park, the development site is recognised as one of the most desirable pieces of development land in the Northeast.
