EU voices noise concerns

 
The European Commission is pressing for the continuation of existing noise regulations for new vehicles, while data is amassed on a proposed replacement.
The commission has – unusually - publicly criticised the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s section on vehicle standards. While Brussels accepts its new draft noise rules include a ‘better measurement method’, it accuses the UN Commission of ‘trying to introduce it hastily’ – potentially this year. It says a ‘proper impact assessment’ is needed first.
