DfT unveils studies to deliver DaSTS

The Department for Transport (DfT) has revealed details of the 10 national corridor studies which will form part of the delivering a sustainable transport system (DaSTS) programme.

The DfT will conduct three studies considering road and rail access to major cities – Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle. These studies will be carried out in conjunction with the relevant regions.

It will also investigate challenges on strategic national corridor 10 between Yorkshire and London.

The other studies will focus on the M25 south west quadrant, Trans-Pennine connectivity, the Lower Thames crossing, London to Haven Ports, HGV accidents and freight modal choices.

Over the summer, the DfT asked the regions to develop more detailed specification for the study proposals that were approved by the Government.
